SAP has announced that it will continue to provide regular maintenance and support for SAP ECC until the end of 2027. After that, it will be possible to take advantage of fee-based extended maintenance until 2030. From 2031, there will be no option other than SAP S/4HANA. Companies should plan their migration early on.
The migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA requires careful planning and preparation. There are various approaches. With a new greenfield implementation, all processes and systems are completely reinstalled and reconfigured. However, there is also the option of retaining all data and settings as part of a brownfield software upgrade. A hybrid form is the bluefield approach. In this case, the old system is converted to S4/HANA, initially without data. It can then be filled with selected legacy data through data migration. Our recommendation is to make sure you also take the opportunity to streamline your business processes and utilise the real-time reporting options of S4/HANA. We also recommend an implementation that stays as close to the standard as possible.
